 Yes, we conduct comprehensive health screenings on all our Great Danes. We utilize Embark DNA testing to identify genetic conditions that might not be evident through traditional methods. Additionally, our stud dog has received OFA certification for hips and elbows, ensuring optimal joint health.​ 

Great Danes are affectionate and loyal companions, but they require a few additional considerations:​

• Size and Space: As a giant breed, they need ample living space.
  
• Health and Lifespan: They have a shorter lifespan compared to smaller breeds, but with proper care and nutrition, they can lead fulfilling lives.
  
• Maintenance: Be prepared for drooling, significant food consumption, and larger waste cleanup.
  
• Financial Commitment: Expect higher costs for veterinary care, food, and other essentials.​

Despite these considerations, Great Danes are gentle giants known for their loving nature.​ As devoted family dogs and regal companions, we believe that for those who are suited, these dogs are well worth the challenge!

We prioritize placing our puppies in responsible and loving homes by following our adoption-screening process:​

• Application: Prospective owners must complete an application, which we thoroughly review before accepting a deposit.
  
• Education: We provide comprehensive information about the breed to ensure families are well-prepared.
  
• Commitment: We require a signed return contract and request updates on the puppy's well-being every six months.

• Ongoing Support: At Macomber Danes, we care about well-being of every one of our puppies, and therefore offer lifetime breeder support and are available to answer questions at any time.​ 

 Our puppies are sold with limited AKC registration by default. Full registration is considered only for individuals with whom we have an established relationship and who operate reputable kennels.​

 European Great Danes are generally larger and more muscular, with broader heads and a heavier build compared to the leaner American variety. While there are slight physical and personality differences, both types share the same incredible traits—gentle, loyal, loving, and great with families. No matter the lineage, Great Danes are affectionate companions known for their calm nature and strong bond with their people. 

 We offer a 2-year health guarantee for all our puppies. Each puppy is dewormed, vaccinated, microchipped, and undergoes a thorough veterinary check before joining their new family. Our commitment to our puppies extends beyond adoption, offering lifelong support to our clients 

 Our puppies are raised in our home until about five weeks of age, after which they transition to indoor kennels where they are gradually introduced to older dogs. This process ensures they are well-socialized and prepared for various environments.
